College Cup football at Millfield

The fabulous setting of Millfield School hosted our inaugural College Cup tournament at Easter. The immaculate football fields, lovely weather and superb surroundings made this a very special new event on the Absolute Travel calendar.  

Aimed at College BTEC football programme teams at U19s, each team played four matches other the three days on site, as well as enjoying field time for training, use of sports hall in the evenings, swim sessions in the awesome pool and a worskhop for players and coaches too.

The games were all competitive and the third and fourth placed match saw Charlton Athletic beat the Norwich City Foundation. The Final itself went to penalties and culminated in victory for the Maidstone United Academy over the Andy Griffin Academy proving an entertaining conclusion to a great few days on tour.

Event Manager Rebecca Burton said "The event was a huge success and it's rewarding to know that the teams have all indicated they wish to return next year. We'll build on this to make it even bigger and better in the future!"

The College Cup will run again during the Easter holidays 2023 and is set to be extended. Subject to confirmation, there will be age categories at U19s, U17s, U15s and U13s for aspiring schools and club foundation programmes. See here for more.
