Destination Guide

A great resort on the Costa Brava, Lloret de Mar is a designated vila esportiva (a Spanish sports town) with a fabulous selection of sports facilities on your doorstep including 3G football fields, Olympic 50m swimming pool and netball courts. The beach and leisure facilities of the resort are also within walking distance from the hotels, and there are many other attractions including arcades, crazy golf, bowling and Water World (May festival only).

The Sports Package

Football

Includes professional coaching for boys and girls at our superb 3-G and grass fields, most of which are in walking distance from your hotel. Tournament matches are for boys (11v11) and girls (6v6) against other British schools.

Netball

Enjoy the fantastic atmosphere generated by our schools netball tournament at the splendid indoor facilities nearby. Our excellent team of Netball Development coaches ensure a fantastic selection of netball sessions for every age and ability.

Hockey

Train at the incredible Pau Negre venue behind the Olympic stadium in Barcelona or other top water-based fields in the region and enjoy coaching with leading international players. Festival matches for teams or friendlies against local Spanish clubs are also included.

Excursions & Visits

An excursion to the stunning city of Barcelona is an optional extra with entry to the incredible Nou Camp stadium a highlight. You can add a trip to the fabulous Waterworld waterpark should time allow (May festival only) on the outskirts of Lloret de Mar. A private evening party at a popular local venue can also be arranged! Relax while everyone has fun in a social and safe environment. A visit to PortAventura theme park (2 hours on the coach) is also a possibility.

Travel

The region is well served by flights from the UK, although you’ll need to book early for availability for the festival weeks. For a more cost-effective option however, the door to door coach package is an excellent choice. After the short ferry crossing from Dover, the coach journey from Calais is about 16 hours, travelling south through France during the night.

Sample Itinerary

Saturday

(Coach tour groups only): Depart school for coach journey to Dover. Ferry crossing to Calais and onward journey overnight to Spain.

Sunday

(Flight tour groups head out to Spain). Afternoon arrival in resort of Lloret de Mar. Check into your accommodation and free time at leisure to enjoy the beach or swimming pool at the hotel. Your first meal is evening dinner.

Monday

Professional coaching clinic with SportsSchool coaches. Tournament matches with other British schools. Dinner. Evening at leisure – possible bowling and mini-golf in the resort (payable locally).

Tuesday

Professional coaching clinic with SportsSchool coaches. Tournament matches with other British schools. Dinner. Private evening party at local venue.

Wednesday

Excursion to Barcelona (optional extra). Visit to Nou Camp stadium and sightseeing time in the city. Evening dinner at the hotel.

Thursday

Check out of hotel. Optional Water World water park visit, should time allow. (Flight tour groups head back to the airport). Start coach journey home and travel through the night.

Friday

Morning ferry crossing and onward journey back to your school (for coach groups).

Where to stay

Lloret de Mar hotels

We use a selection of 3 and 4 star hotels including the Samba, Guitart and Olympic Park. The rooms are all en-suite and normally for three sharing. The hotel restaurant meals are all buffet style with packed lunches also included when taking the full board option. In the quieter Fenals Bay, a short transfer from Lloret de Mar itself, the 4-star Surfmar hotel is well located on the seafront and an ideal option for groups looking to upgrade away from the heart of the resort.
